BSRM 9128 is a model SW-9 diesel-electric switcher that was manufactured by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) of General Motors in LaGrange, Illinois. It was built in December 1952 and is equipped with a model 12-567-B, 12-cylinder diesel engine, which generates 1,200 horsepower. Built for the Pennsylvania Railroad as number 8528, it was designated class ES-12m. It became Penn Central 9128 in 1968 and changed to Conrail in 1976.

BSRM purchased 9128 from a private owner in 2006. Currently undergoing a multi-year evaluation and restoration, this unit will be placed into regular service as time and resources permit. Locomotive 9128 made its debut appearance on the recent 2009 Massachusetts Bay Railroad Enthusiasts’ Cannan-Danbury trip using our museum’s equipment.
